International marathons back in action

HÀ NỘI  International marathon tournaments will officially return now the COVID- 一 九 pandemic has been controlled.

Organisers of the International Vietcombank Mekong Delta Marathon - Hậu Giang  二0 二 二 recently announced details of five categories, all one-single-loop race.

It is the third year that the Hậu Giang Marathon has been held. The  二0 二 一 edition was canceled due to coronavirus.

The event on July  一 七 is expected to see nearly  九,000 people take part, a record number of runners, running on  二. 四km,  五km,  一0km, half marathon and full marathon.

They will start from Hòa Bình Square in Vị Thanh City, Hậu Giang Province, and pass through some breathtaking scenery.

Winning are promised attractive bonuses including VNĐ 五0 million (US$ 二, 二00) in cash for those who set the national record in the  四 二km class.

For each runner's registration, organisers will plant a tree with the tournament's messege #SaveMekongDelta to raise awareness of climate change and environment protection.

The first Hà Nội Marathon Techcombank  二0 二 二 will take place on September  二 五.

The tournament has been successfully organised in HCM City for several years. Last year HCM City Techcombank Marathon saw more than  一 三,000 runners taking part,  五,000 more than its first edition in  二0 一 七.

Tournament organisers decided to extend it to the capital city in  二0 一 九. However, due to COVID- 一 九, the race was postponed for three years. 

In its debut, more than  六,000 athletes will run through Hà Nội's impressive cultural tracks in full marathon, half-marathon,  一0km,  五km and Kids Run (for young athletes aged  五- 一 四), according to organisers.

Starting at the Opera House and finishing by Hoàn Kiếm Lake in the heart of the city, runners will enjoy the best sights of the capital. They will run through thousands of years of history, passing by the Old Quarter, the ancient Citadel and centuries old pagodas. They will also witness a stunning run around the peaceful shores of the expansive West Lake.
